This item arrived very quickly and was packed well. It was shipped in several boxes. One for the base, one for the center-pole and hardware, one for the tabletop, and one for the chairs. Interestingly, the tabletop was both the lighter natural wood and darker walnut (each side was a different finish - see photos below) so I had the choice of which one to use although I paid for the less expensive walnut (keep that in mind when ordering).
Tools used for assembly:
Corded electric drill with phillips-head bit (regular phillips-head screwdriver will work fine)
5/8" box wrench to tighten the square bolt on the base
Instructions for assembly:
1. Choose the tabletop finish you wish to use and lay it face down on the floor. If assembling on a hard surface, you may want to keep the tabletop in the box to avoid scratching it.
2. Place the 'square' end of the center-pole on top of the upside down tabletop.
3. Center the center-pole so each edge is approximately 13 1/4" from the outer edge of the table on each side. You may want to mark the screw holes if you plan to pre-drill them.
4. Screw in the four corner screws with your phillips screwdriver.
5. Screw in the remaining four center screws.
6. Unscrew the bolt attached to the other end of the center-pole. Place the base on top of the center-pole and then put the washer followed by the bolt.
7. Tighten the bolt using a wrench.
